When is the 2026 solar eclipse?
Use this text to answer questions in as much detail as possible for your customers.The total solar eclipse will take place on August 12, 2026. Depending on your location, the time of totality and partial phases may vary. Be sure to check local viewing times based on your region.
Where will the 2026 eclipse be visible?
The eclipse will be visible across parts of North America and large parts of Europe. Totality can be observed in Iceland, Greenland, and Spain. With large parts of Europe experiencing at least 90% totality as well. Check our map for the Path of Totality.
Do I need special glasses to watch the eclipse?
Yes. You must wear EN ISO 12312-2:2015 tested solar eclipse glasses to safely view the eclipse. Looking at the Sun without proper protection can cause serious and permanent eye damage.
How long will the total eclipse last?
The duration of totality varies by location. In parts of Spain, totality could last up to 2 minutes and 18 seconds. Most areas along the path will experience totality between 1 and 2 minutes.
Can I take photos of the eclipse with my phone?
Yes, but never point your phone or camera directly at the Sun without a solar filter. For the best photos, use eclipse photography filters or capture the landscape during totality for dramatic lighting effects.
