How to Use Your Glasses Safely
We want your experience during the solar eclipse to be an unforgettable one. Please follow these guidelines for safe viewing:
- Inspect Before Use: Always check your glasses for any scratches, punctures, or tears in the lenses. If the lens is damaged, discard the glasses immediately.
- Preparing to View the Eclipse: Place the glasses over your eyes before looking up at the sun.
- After the Eclipse: Turn away from the sun before removing your glasses. Do not remove them while looking at the sun.
When Is It Safe to Remove Glasses When Viewing the Solar Eclipse?Your glasses are only safe to remove at the time of totality, when the moon completely covers the sun. If you aren't in the path of totality, then at no stage is it safe to remove your Solar Eclipse glasses. If unsure, please check our map to see where the path of totality is.
