Safety & Certifications

Your Eyes, Fully Protected.

Viewing a solar eclipse is a breathtaking experience, but dangerous without tools you can trust. It's why we've gone through every effort to obtain and proudly display our certifications so you can wear ORRO with confidence.

Module B EU Type-Examination Certificate

This certificate shows that our solar eclipse glasses are in compliance with the health, safety and performance standard for the EU. This includes meeting the ISO 12312-2:2015 international safety standard, which guarantees our glasses block:

  • 100% of harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays.
  • 100% of harmful infrared (IR) rays.
  • 99.999% of intense visible light, (that last 0.001% is what lets you observe the eclipse).

EU Declaration of Conformity

This is a formal declaration that our solar eclipse glasses are meeting all applicable EU requirements. It outlines all the necessary information to show that our product conforms with the necessary requirements to be sold in the EU including descriptions of the product and that our glasses comply with Personal Protective Equipment Regulation (EU) 2016/425.

These certifications allow us to proudly display the CE Marking on our Solar Eclipse glasses, a mark that indicates our compliance with all health, safety, and environmental requirements to sell in the EU.

How to Use Your Glasses Safely

We want your experience during the solar eclipse to be an unforgettable one. Please follow these guidelines for safe viewing:

  • Inspect Before Use: Always check your glasses for any scratches, punctures, or tears in the lenses. If the lens is damaged, discard the glasses immediately.
  • Preparing to View the Eclipse: Place the glasses over your eyes before looking up at the sun.
  • After the Eclipse: Turn away from the sun before removing your glasses. Do not remove them while looking at the sun.

When Is It Safe to Remove Glasses When Viewing the Solar Eclipse?Your glasses are only safe to remove at the time of totality, when the moon completely covers the sun. If you aren't in the path of totality, then at no stage is it safe to remove your Solar Eclipse glasses. If unsure, please check our map to see where the path of totality is.
