When is the 2026 solar eclipse?

Where will the 2026 eclipse be visible?

The eclipse will be visible across parts of North America, including Greenland and Iceland, and large areas of Europe, especially Spain, Portugal, and southern France. Northern Spain offers some of the best viewing conditions.

Do I need special glasses to watch the eclipse?

Yes. You must wear ISO 12312-2 certified solar eclipse glasses to safely view the eclipse. Looking at the Sun without proper protection can cause serious and permanent eye damage.

How long will the total eclipse last?

The duration of totality varies by location. In parts of Spain, totality could last up to 2 minutes and 18 seconds. Most areas along the path will experience totality between 1 and 2 minutes.

Can I take photos of the eclipse with my phone?

Yes, but never point your phone or camera directly at the Sun without a solar filter. For the best photos, use eclipse photography filters or capture the landscape during totality for dramatic lighting effects.
